The country life!

OK I'm here in the beautiful County of Prince Edward! We are mostly settled in and I will post some pictures soon. The bad news is I only have a dial up connection and most of you remember how darn slow those things are so this limits what I'm able to do. I'm not complaining, mind you, I'm just saying. LOL! I was so happy and surprised to see Aimee from www.sleepingmommy.com and Jade from www.AZJade.com had stopped by to visit in my absence! Welcome ladies! I hope you will return soon! I will do my best to update regularly I will just have to deal with the speed or I should say lack of speed a dial up connection offers. Those of you that know me know I'm not very patient, for this I will ask you to forgive me now or don't that is up to you!

Oh I have to tell you just how proud a mom I am! Brandon (my second grader) had to take a reading test at his new school on his very first day, as it was testing day for the entire school. I received the results on Friday, he scored 94%. He is reading between a third and fourth grade level! You go Brandon! I'm treating him to a nice lunch on Monday just the 2 of us.

OK, I will get some pictures together to post next time so you can see my lovely town and my new house!

So proud of Brandon, what a great kid.

J and Jade... I truly am loving it! I plan to take a drive into town this week... hopefully it will stop raining long enough to get a few good pictures. I will also have to get some stats about the area to give you an idea of how small it is.

Hi I read your comment about the problem with your cats' clawing. You can teach them to use the scratch posts by running string (or whatever little pull toys they have) up the posts. When they claw at the string they feel the scratch post and really get into it. I suggest getting the kind wrapped in what looks like a natural rope. When the rope material wears out you can easily replace it. And I've only replaced it once in 8 years. If you have a "grounder" (a cat that likes to use the carpet on the floor) there are things you can buy with replaceable cardboard inserts. You can get the cat to start using these by sprinkling cat nip on them. Good luck!

Hi, I read your comment on Jeanette's blog about your cat problem. I hope this information helps: You can train the cats to use the posts by teasing them with string up the post. As they go for the string they will discover the post. I recommend the ones that look like they are wrapped in a natural rope-like material. In several years, when they've worn out the rope stuff, you can re-wrap it yourself. Place them in strategic locations. If you have a cat that is a grounder, buy one of those round plastic things with a little ball in the runner on the outside and a cardboard center. The centers are replaceable. You train the cat to use this device by sprinkling catnip on it. Good luck!
